These are configuration settings necessary to get RealVR mods working
General Notes/Settings
- This section has general guidelines for how to get RealVR mods working from scratch
- Some Game-Specific Settings and profiles are available
- RealVR sometimes forces a 1:1 aspect ratio in the 2D game window. In some games, changing to 16:9 ratio will result in issues. VRto3D forces the aspect ratio and field of view in the Headset 3D view, so you will always get the correct aspect ratio in 3D regardless of the game window’s aspect ratio
- You can modify the
aspect_ratio
and fov
VRto3D settings if desired
- Convergence adjustments do not work dynamically with RealVR mods, so if you use
Ctrl + F5/F6
you will have to Stop/Start VR in the RealVR menu to apply the changes
- It is recommended to set games to run in windowed mode. However, some games will need to run in borderless mode to have the correct resolution
- These instructions are only for RealVR
v22.0.0
or newer. For older RealVR mods, check here
- HFOV/VFOV optimizations don’t work with VRto3D
- You may get improved performance with
GPU Scheduling
OFF when running AERv2 mode or ON when running 1/2 Rate - you can change it here
- DLSS ghosting is now fixed in RealVR and the new DLSS Transformer Model looks good and works great. Use DLSS Swapper to upgrade the game to DLSS4 Transformer model
v310.x
and set Preset J or K
RealVR Installation
- Sign up for Luke Ross’ Patreon
- Download the latest RealVR release
- Extract the files next to your game’s exe and overwrite any existing files
- Run
RealConfig.bat
- If coming from a VR setup, select the Delete option when prompted
- If coming from a previous 3D setup, you can select Keep
- Respond to any configuration questions as desired
- Edit the
RealVR.ini
file and make these changes under the [RVR]
section:
ExpertMode=1
IgnorePosesFor3DDisplaySupport=1
- Run the game
- The RealVR menu can usually be pulled up in-game using the
PAUSE
key
- Sometimes the menu won’t be fully visible, so try to adjust the
Normal HUD Size
to 0.8
- The menu font size can be changed by holding
Ctrl
and using Mouse Scroll
- Values can be typed in by selecting them with
Ctrl + Click
and then Enter
to apply
- Generally OK to leave VR renderer to Auto
- Check render resolution or Target Pixels Per Degree (if available in the particular game mod) and ensure it isn’t super high, as it will affect performance
- Change
Target Aspect Ratio
to 16:9
if it is available
- Choose Render Mode:
AER v2
will provide the best experience and no artifacts, but requires the most GPU/CPU power
Legacy AER
also has no artifacts but should only be used for WibbleWobble or SR displays as it limits the frame rate to your monitor’s refresh rate
1/2 Rate
render mode uses frame generation, which may result in blocky tearing artifacts when viewing fast moving objects like this below example

- If you get a huge black bar and the game appears to be rendering at the bottom of the screen, open the RealVR menu with
PAUSE
and then click Stop VR
then wait a bit and then click Start VR
again
- Exit the Game
